What is an Injury?

What is an Injury?

  • Excess stress or load placed on the body preventing it from functioning to full potential.
  • Normally requires a period of recovery to allow your body to heal, recovery doesn’t necessarily mean rest/ inactivity.
  • It usually affects your musculo-skeletal system including Bones, Muscles, Tendons, and Cartilage
  • Injuries often result in pain, swelling, tenderness and the inability to use or place weight on the area.
  • Two types of injury types;
  • Acute - painful/swollen, fresh, trauma
  • Chronic - usually reoccurring, built up over time.
